How to Crop Image for YouTube Channel Art

Crop and resize your image to the perfect YouTube channel art dimensions for all devices.

YouTube channel art (also called a channel banner) is the wide image displayed at the top of your YouTube channel page. It's one of the most important brand assets for your channel — but it's notoriously tricky to get right because it displays at different sizes across TV, desktop, tablet, and mobile, each cropping the image differently.

YouTube Channel Art Dimensions

YouTube recommends uploading channel art at 2560×1440 pixels. However, different devices display different portions of this image. The universal "safe zone" — guaranteed to be visible on all devices — is the central 1546×423 pixels. Design with this in mind to ensure your key content is always visible.

Channel Art Design Best Practices

Put Your Key Info in the Safe Zone

Your channel name, tagline, and any upload schedule information should all sit comfortably within the central 1546×423px safe zone. Background artwork and decorative elements can extend to the full 2560×1440px canvas for TV viewers.

Compress Under 6 MB

YouTube requires channel art to be under 6 MB. A 2560×1440px image can easily exceed this, so compress your banner image after design — you can reduce it by 60–70% without any visible quality loss on screen.
